Can I remove a password I have forgotten?

No. If the PDF requires a password to open, you must provide a correct opening or owner password. This tool does not guess or recover passwords. If the file opens without a password but restricts printing or copying, try leaving the password field empty. Only unlock files you own or are authorized to modify.

Will my PDF layout and form fields change?

Unlock PDF removes encryption without redrawing pages. It preserves text, fonts, images, page sizes, links, bookmarks, attachments and fillable forms. The PDF’s bytes and file size can change. Existing certificate-based digital signatures become invalid; keep the signed original. Check the result if the tool reports PDF repair warnings.

Are my PDF and password uploaded?

No. A small processing engine loads from JiffyKit when you click Unlock PDF. The PDF and password are processed in a browser worker on your device. Passwords are cleared from the field when processing starts and are not saved by this tool. No account or subscription is needed.

Which PDFs are supported?

Choose one PDF up to 50 MB. Standard password encryption using RC4, AES-128 and AES-256 is supported. Certificate-based protection and some damaged or unusually complex PDFs are not supported. A modern browser with WebAssembly is required. You can cancel, and stalled jobs stop after two minutes.
