Convert PDFs locally in your browser. Editable text mode preserves page sizes and page breaks, rebuilds text and tables, and keeps detected columns separate. Complex layouts and fonts may still need adjustments. Scans and unsupported text orientations are preserved as page images with a notice. Preserve appearance mode places each complete page into Word as an image; its text is not editable.

How it works

Questions about pdf to word

Will it look exactly like the PDF?

Editable text mode rebuilds the document and may need layout or font adjustments. Preserve appearance mode keeps the page design as an image in Word. Text in page images is not editable.

My PDF is a scan. What happens?

Scanned pages are preserved as images and identified after conversion. Their text is not editable. OCR is required to turn a scan into editable text; OCR is not included.

Is this password-protected PDF supported?

No. If the PDF is password-protected, remove the password first (open it, print to PDF, or use an unlock tool) and then convert. The tool tells you when it sees one.

What happens to tables?

Detected bordered and aligned borderless tables are rebuilt as editable Word tables. Source page breaks are preserved, so tables spanning multiple pages remain separate. Check unusual layouts and merged cells after conversion.

Is the file uploaded to convert it?

No. The PDF is read and the Word file is written on your device. Nothing goes to a server.
