Remove background

Choose a JPG, PNG or WebP image. Auto recognizes many text-heavy graphics on pale backgrounds; you can also choose Photo or Graphics yourself. Photo keeps a main subject. Graphics removes light colors at the output image resolution, preserving dark or colored text and icons. Review the result, adjust removal if needed and download the PNG.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Your browser processes the image on your device. Photo mode downloads about 17 MB of AI tools on first use. Graphics mode uses no photo model or WebAssembly and only needs the small tool scripts. No account or API key is required.

Which method should I use?

Use Photo for people, animals and objects. Use Graphics for text, logos or documents on a white or pale background. Auto uses a conservative check for pale pages with many small ink components; it is not perfect, and you can change the method. Graphics removes pale foreground details too, including white lettering inside a logo. Reduce removal to keep more light details, or use Photo when those details matter.

Which files and sizes are supported?

Choose one JPG, PNG or WebP up to 25 MB. Inputs above 64 million pixels or 16,384 pixels on either side are rejected. Output keeps the original dimensions up to a maximum 4,096-pixel edge and 16 million pixels; larger images are reduced with a notice. Downloads are PNG. Convert HEIC photos to JPG first.

What if the result is wrong or processing fails?

Check the chosen method and review the preview. Change the method to reprocess the original, or use the removal and edge controls and apply your changes. Photo mode can struggle with fine hair, glass, shadows and crowded scenes. Cancel stops a running job and stalled jobs time out. Graphics does not need the photo model and works for light-background images when photo tools cannot load. Manual brush editing is not included.
